The original Les Miserables manuscript arrives in Melbourne.

uh, i know this is not our regularly scheduled witty and self-deprecating text post but…maybe you might like this too? i’m so amazed by the work and thought and soul that went into it…[ok, i’ll admit it. sometimes really old books make me cry??]

you cannot tell me that this isn’t what was running through straff’s head in this scene

Elend, how can you read at a time like this?" Jastes asked.
Elend looked up from his book. “It calms me.

Shakespearean insults, with cats.

7 more here.

I did not realize how very perfect cats were at delivering Shakespeare’s insults until now.

i love this scene so fucking much
and i didn’t noticed it the first or the second time i watched the movie
but its so beautiful because Tiana’s father says that he wants that people from all walks of life to come and eat at their restaurant and Tiana later on tells Naveen “Folks are gonna be comin’ together from all walks of life just to get a taste of our food” and here you have the king and queen of Maldonia sitting together eating with Tiana’s mother a poor tailor from New Orleans equally  and Tiana got all she ever wanted working hard for it its just soo  beautiful
(also i fucking love the fact they threat the douchebags in the bank with a  crocodile)

THIS MOVIE IS UNDERAPPRECIATED PLEASE SOMEONE LETS TALK ABOUT THIS MOVIE

I personally liked this scene because it was also about how Naveen is shown SERVING his parents food. Not using his high status as a prince to be a playboy. It’s hard work being on the floor and doing something honest with a person he’s made a commitment to rather than bumming off of them as he was shown to have been doing in the beginning of the movie is a symbol of his development. Tiana’s work theme is ambition— she works hard to make something in the future. But Naveen’s work theme is humility— by learning how to do some work and to serve others before himself he too makes a future; one that’s sustainable and real.
His development happened because when he finally respect her, he saw Tiana’s example and determination. Great women don’t just make something of themselves, but because others listen to and come to respect them they have the power to enact change in the people they meet for the better.
Now only if she hadn’t been stuck as a frog almost the entire movie.

I literally have no self control when I’m reading books I’ll skip like 6 paragraphs and read the dialogue and then feel bad and go back and read the paragraphs it’s a vicious cycle

For once this is like one of those ‘genuine relateable’ posts that I am shocked by like I 100% did not know this was a thing people did, a thing 118,000 people did.
